Rajasi means "In Passion". Always a high energy live show, Rajasi rocks! Find the new Cd "In The Thick Of It", available
everywhere you buy music.
This unique Canadian band has the high-energy rock attributes
of The Trews live and a classic approach to song writing like their influences, The Beatles and Bob Marley for example. They
also have something else... an identity crisis. Doing something for years that they say no other bands are doing. Chanting
sacred mantras from India.
Tulasi Hanna, drummer and second singer of the Owen Sound pop/rock/
trio notes the vocal harmonizing in songs and thought provoking lyrics. Hence the Beatles and Bob Marley comparisons. But
there is another reason to compare Rajasi with those two bands, it's the spiritual connection. George Harrison and the Beatles
used to enjoy chanting these Indian mantras and it was George Harrison who first made it popular in his songs like "My Sweet
Lord". Bob Marley and his songs of freedom and love. That's the Rajasi angle too.
It's
a new positive message for the times. People have their heads inside the t.v. and internet. I see a lot of lonely people everywhere.
People need to get together on the human level and dance and sing.
Pronounced Rah-Jah-See, the name means “in passion” and is derived from the
members’ Eastern cultural upbringing.
Tulasi is joined by his brother Nitai Hanna on guitars and bassist Steve Kenny with all three sharing
vocal duties. Three is a charm and many fans will attest to the ‘feel good’ chemistry that is especially captured
in Rajasi’s live performance. As far as the local music scene is concerned, you would be hard pressed to find a group or artist that sounds quite
like Rajasi!
The band launched its third album, “In The Thick Of It”.
A logical progression in the groove-driven rock repertoire that Rajasi served up on its first two records, support has been
displayed on regional radio stations The Bull in Wingham, The PeakFM out of Collingwood, and Barrie’s Rock95.
Despite
Rajasi’s independent record label status, its accomplishments exceed the impressive feat of commercial radio airplay.
“In The Thick Of It” has distrubution in stores like HMV in Canada and online retailers such as itunes.
The
trio will be on their "Spiritual Love Tour" this June and July, and it will take them through Ontario and Quebec. Rajasi will
also be touring their new rock set around Ontario throughout the year. Venues across Southern Ontario, Vancouver, Montreal
and even the U.S. have been pit stops for Rajasi in the past. Sharing the stage with bands like The Trews, Thornely, April
Wine, Hurst, Staggered Crossing, Mission District, Inward Eye and Rides Again, Rajasi rocks!
